Sony's biggest division is electronics, which are doing reasonably poorly right now (outside gaming). Microsoft is coming off a flawed OS.

nobody uses sold to consumer numbers. They only report (in their financial reports to their stock holders not the press) consoles shipped to retailers. Sony doesn't see a dime of profit off console's sold to the consumer. They see profit off consoles sold to the retailer, just like Nintendo, just like microsoft, just like every major electronics manufacturer.

of the three games released for 360 or PS3 in Q1 and Q2 2008, none sold over a million, and both multiplats were outsold nearly 2:1 on the 360.
Just putting, "its not a smart business move for ubisoft as even their own financial reports show they make more money from the ps3 than the 360," in context.
the second one had the best multiplayer. I'm really hoping they can get back to the charm of that one. I think they've made multiplayer levels a little bit too open as they are now.
Also, yes, the last one was pretty good. Not super great, but pretty good.
edit: at below. A little known fact about ubisoft outselling the first half of fiscal 2008. The period, which goes from the start of april till the end of september, had one multiplatform game released for the xbo...
The most important being first release, original cost of the system, and EASE OF DEVELOPMENT.
Someone else said it somewhere in here, but making a system easy to develop on and easy to port to is huge. It's the difference between making your game multi-platform and explaining to a business executive why you can't do it on your release schedule.
I could care less about a 10 year plan. I could understand longevity (or lack there of) being a problem in the 3-4 year range, but by the time you get past 5 or even into 6, any console will feel just a little bit dated compared to what's possible.
The long and short of it is, I just don't want to play games on 10 year old hardware. It's just not where the best looking/playing games are going to be consistently.

you already pay a monthly fee to blizzard for this reason. Blizzard should pay you if they don't render that service, not some outsider. It's like paying twice for the same service, which is dumb.
